Realife Cooperative of Owatonna is a 32-unit cooperative building offering independent living for seniors 62 and older. Cooperative living combines the best of renting and the best of owning.

Cooperative as it applies to housing, means co-ownership and operation of a housing project by those who live in it. This is a unique form of home ownership in that the cooperative corporation holds title to the property and directly assumes a mortgage, taxes and obligations necessary to finance and operate the building, thereby relieving its members of any direct liability. Cooperative ownership allows for ease of transfer, investment return and personal tax benefit.

Realife Cooperative of Owatonna was built in 1988. We operate as a non-profit and have the tax advantage of home ownership and the convenience of professional management.  We have a maintenance team and office staff who are on site or on call seven days a week.

We provide member-run social activities, which include:

• Gardening
• Entertainment
• Recycling cards
• Exercise 
• Coffee hour
• Catered meals (2 or 3 times per month)
• Area outings

New members are always welcome to join in these social activities.

Community Areas

• Social Room: We hold coffee hour twice a week, catered dinners, exercise and card parties. It is a great place to entertain friends or family for a gathering.
• Craft/Exercise Room: We hold small meetings, craft classes and have some exercise equipment available.
• Gazebo: We hold grill-outs. Family and friends for small gatherings can also use this area.
