Sawtooth Ridges Apartments offers both a panoramic view of Lake Superior as well as beautiful birch and pine woods scenery. We offer a front row seat in a natural paradise with the views from our reading nook, community room and outdoor garden benches.

Apartments feature kitchen, bath, individual heat controls, two phone jacks, two cable TV outlets, an emergency call system and plenty of storage space. Common household pets are allowed. Water, heat, electricity and garbage service are included. Telephone and cable TV are not included.

Sawtooth Ridges does not offer a controlled access entry system. However, the building is locked from 9:30 p.m. until 8 a.m. each day. Onsite staff are available from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. to respond to medical and mechanical emergencies. Residents can access an emergency response system via pull cords conveniently located in the bedroom and bathroom of each suite.

A resident sponsored “I’m OK” program is also available to provide a means of monitoring residents.

These services are available to enable older adults to remain in a retirement community setting with the security of knowing someone is nearby to provide personalized services as they are needed. Services available include:
Home health aide
Medication set-up
Homemaking
Laundry
Foot care
Skilled nursing visits
Information and referral case management

Eligibility requirements:
To qualify for residency, you must be 62 years of age or older. Tenants must be able to comply with the lease requirements.

The facility is financed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and includes a rent subsidy program. Tenants pay 30 percent of their adjusted gross income for rent, and the Federal Government pays the remainder.

To determine if you qualify:
Annual gross income (social security, pension, wages, etc.) cannot exceed:
$19,800 for one person
$22,600 for two persons

Application:
All applicants are added to a waiting list as their applications are received. A separate waiting list is maintained for specially modified apartments that are suited for persons with mobility impairments.
